27 August 2009: Senator the Hon Kim Carr, Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research, names the new $80m Pawsey HPC Centre for SKA Science.

21 August 2009: In Sydney, Minister Kim Carr and Minister Gerry Brownlee sign an agreement for Australia and New Zealand to cooperate on the SKA, including a joint bid to host the project.

10 July 2009: In Rome, Deputy Minister Adolfo Urso and Ambassador Amanda Vanstone sign an MOU between Australia and Italy on SKA cooperation.

29 April 2009: Australia and Italy have formally agreed to work in close partnership on the international $3 billion Square Kilometre Array (SKA) project through the signing of a Joint Statement of Intent in Melbourne.
