New Studentships in Radio Astronomy Available
Curtin University of Technology and the University of Western Australia in Perth are to become joint venture partners in a new international radio astronomy research centre and a centre of excellence which will focus on SKA science and engineering. The universities are currently offering research and vacation studentships in radio astronomy, astronomy and engineering as follows:

The outreach programme of the Australia Telescope National Facility provides educational resources on many aspects of astronomy for school students, teachers and anyone else who may be interested.
Astronomy WA was set up to promote astronomy with a strong focus on Western Australia's contributions to the subject, and to provide useful resources for teachers, students, and others, professional or amateur, with an interest in the field.
The
Wildflowers in the Sky Project was a highly successful educational project linking schools in the Mid West region of Western Australia with the Australia Telescope National Facility and other partner organisations to expand student understanding of astronomy.
Scitech, an interactive science museum in Western Australia's capital city, Perth, hosts "Horizon – The Planetarium", an indoor theatre presenting high-tech shows about the night sky, the solar system and beyond. The museum's 18 metre dome screen is the largest screen of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. The Planetarium provides teacher resource packs and additional support material as part of all school visits.
As well as managing the Australia Telescope National Facility, Australia's Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) provides many other facilities for scientists from Australia and around the world to explore our solar system and beyond. Its website gives comprehensive information about these astronomy facilities.
